1. What is SmartLipo^TM used to treat?
   SmartLipo^TM is ideal for treating unwanted fat, fat tissue irregularities and to help promote skin tightening. SmartLipo^TM is used to treat multiple areas of the body including: small areas of the face, arms, male breasts (gynecomastia), and loose or lax skin (flabby skin).
2. How does SmartLipo^TM work?
   SmartLipo^TM LaserBodySculpting^SM is a minimally invasive surgical proce­dure. The procedure disrupts the fat cells by damaging the fat cell membrane. A laser fiber is introduced through a handpiece and a straw-like device called a cannula. The cannula is then inserted through a 1 to 2 mm incision (about the size of an angel hair pasta noodle) in the skin and into fat pockets. The cannula, with the tip of the fiber exposed approximately 2 mm, is then moved in a “back and forth” fanning motion. The laser’s aiming beam can be visualized through the skin, which allows Dr. Cain to identify the treat­ment area. As the fiber tip comes in contact with the fat cells it ruptures the cell membranes and releases the fatty oil from the fat cells. SmartLipo^TM immediately and permanently removes the fat cells treated. Fat cells removed by SmartLipo^TM do not grow back, a common false myth. As an added benefit, the system promotes tissue tightening through bulk thermal heating and tissue coagulation.
3. What is the difference between SmartLipo™ and traditional liposuction?
   SmartLipo^™ LaserBodySculpting^SM has many advantages over traditional liposuction. Only local anesthesia (numbing) is required – not heavy anesthesia – which results in less downtime, a faster recovery and most importantly, avoids the potential serious complications of heavy anesthesia. In traditional liposuction, heavy anesthesia allows surgeons to use larger instruments and quicker, more aggressive movements, leading to a more painful and longer recovery time. In contrast, the tools used in SmartLipo^TM are much smaller and more precise which causes less trauma, minimizes bruising, promotes a faster healing period (most patients are able to return to work within 1 – 2 days), and produces better cosmetic results.
4. What should I expect during the procedure?
   SmartLipo^TM LaserBodySculpting^SM is a quiet and virtually painless procedure. The movements used in SmartLipo^TM are gentle and slow - some patients compare the sensation to a massage. The session typically lasts from 45 minutes to one hour for each area treated.
5. What will I experience after the procedure? What is the recovery time?
   Immediately after the procedure, you will be able to walk out and perform normal, non-strenuous activities. Most patients return to work in 1-2 days. Recovery discomfort such as swelling and soreness are minimal, generally lasting less than 1 week and can be treated with Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Typically, the incisions completely heal with no scabs in 1 week.
6. Am I a good candidate for SmartLipo?
   Ideal candidates are in good health, less than 20% overweight, and have realistic expectations for the results. If the person has areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exer­cise, then that person is a candidate for SmartLipo^TM.

BOTOX®

1. What is BOTOX® Cosmetic? How does it work?
   BOTOX® Cosmetic is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily reduce moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® Cosmetic are injected directly into the muscles between your brows. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles, reducing the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent lines to form.
2. Is treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic painful?
   Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes, and no recovery time is needed.
3. When will I see results? How long do they last?
   Within days, you may see a marked improvement in frown lines between your brows. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months.
4. Will I experience any side effects?
   The most common side effects following injection include temporary headache.
5. Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
   A treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance. You can still frown or look surprised, the muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced.

Juvéderm™

1. What is Juvéderm™?
   Juvéderm™ is an injectable gel or “filler” used to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines or parentheses). The gel temporarily adds volume and restores smoothness to the face, with effects lasting up to 1 year.
2. What can I expect during the procedure?
   Juvéderm™ is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Injections may cause some discomfort. After appropriate local anesthesia, Injections are usually painless. The injection process takes only about 15 minutes.
3. What are the possible side effects of Juvéderm™ injectable gel?
   The most common side effects are mild in nature and include redness, swelling, tenderness and itching. The duration is typically brief, lasting 7 days or less.
4. Can people with different skin tones/colors be treated with Juvéderm™?
   Yes. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is effective and safe for use in persons of color. Studies have shown no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring.

Restylane® / Perlane®

1. What are Restylane^® and Perlane^®?
   Restylane^® and Perlane^® are cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.
2. How are Restylane^® and Perlane^® different from each other?
   Restylane^® and Perlane^® contain stabilized hyaluronic acid, made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is Perlane is composed of larger gel particles than Restylane and is intended for deeper injection to volumize skin for correcting facial wrinkles and folds. Dr. Cain can help you determine which one is right for you.
3. What can I expect during the procedure? Do the injections hurt?
   Restylane^® and Perlane^® are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultrafine needle. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. However, Dr. Cain believes any type of procedure should not hurt and will do everything to make your procedure as painless as possible.
4. How long do Restylane^® or Perlane^® last?
   Restylane^® and Perlane^® typically last for about six months.
