How LATISSE® Works
LATISSE® makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient: bimatoprost ophthalmic solution 0.03%. LATISSE® works from the inside out. First, LATISSE® accelerates the growth phase of the eyelash growth cycle. Second, it increases the number of hairs in the growth phase. As the treatment progresses, you'll begin to see changes in length, thickness and darkness gradually.
The results are not permanent. You must apply LATISSE® at least three times a week or your eyelashes will go back to their regular length.
LATISSE™ Safety
The benefits of LATISSE® are derived from scientific evidence. LATISSE® contains the same active ingredient (bimatoprost) as the drug Lumigan - an eyedrop that's used to treat a specific type of glaucoma. Over the years, patients using Lumigan reported increased eyelash growth as a side effect. Wanting to harness this beneficial side effect, Allergan conducted a pivotal Phase III, multi-center, double-masked, placebo-controlled study to assess its safety and efficacy.
The FDA reviewed clinical study results to verify the identity, potency, purity and stability of the ingredients, and demonstrated that LATISSE® is safe and effective for its intended use if used as prescribed.
