Chemical peels help you:
Vi Peel
The Vi Peel is a combination of retinol, phenol, vitamin C, and salicylic acid that can be used on all skin types and is safe and effective for use on darker skin tones including Asian, African-American, and Latino without causing uneven pigmentation. Vi Peel is virtually painless and requires no skin preconditioning. Vi Peel is the first Next Generation Aesthetic that produces dramatic visible results in just days with little downtime.
How frequently you undergo a Vi Peel depends on how much damage there is to correct. For extremely damaged skin, the Vi Peel can initially be done every two weeks repeatedly until you reach your desired results. However for most patients, one initial peel followed by regular peels three to four times a year is enough to repair sun damage and keep your skin luminous.
When used for acne treatment, the Vi Peel has been safely used on patients as young as 12 years of age. Combined with a daily skin regimen, almost all acne cases can be readily and safely managed with a Vi Peel.
Most patients report noticeable results within a few days after receiving a Vi Peel. The skin peeling associated with the Vi Peel is a light, fluffy peel that will start on day three and generally be finished by the end of day four. The peeling is easily hidden by moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible. Patients using Retin A may experience heavier peeling. The peel can be modulated by Dr. Jim Cain to produce a deeper, more aggressive peel, if necessary, depending on your skin condition.
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) Chemical Peel
A TCA Chemical Peel is one of the most popular and reliable treatments available for eliminating skin imperfections and revealing smoother, more rejuvenated looking skin. A TCA Chemical Peel is considered a medium chemical peel and works by removing the dull, damaged outer layers of the skin – those affected by acne, fine lines, sun exposure, age, and environmental factors. A TCA Chemical Peel can be customized for most skin types and tones, including those with olive and light brown skin.
Within a week following treatment, those dead layers of skin slough off to reveal a new, smoother, more vibrant layer of skin. Because it is considered a medium peel. TCA Chemical Peels penetrate deeper and are more effective in removing superficial skin than light peels. By reaching deeper into the skin, the results are much more dramatic and can last up to two years.
The TCA Chemical Peel is also an excellent “spot” treatment that can be used to eliminate unsightly warts, dark under eye circles, moles, calluses, and skin tags. Depending on your skin type and the severity of your skin conditions, Dr. Cain can carefully control and monitor the degree and depth of TCA penetration within the skin to provide the greatest results and maximum safety.
Light Chemical Peels
Light chemical peels utilize alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or fruit acids. Light chemical peels are ideal for people who want the benefits of a facial peel but cannot accommodate the time required to recover from a deeper peel. Alphahydroxy acid (AHA) chemical peels, lactic acid peels, glycolic acid peels, and salicylic acid peels are considered the mildest of the peel formulas and are used for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, to restore areas of dryness, to treat uneven pigmentation, and reduce acne. Alpha hydroxy acids can also be mixed with a facial wash or cream in lesser concentrations as part of a daily skin-care regimen to improve your skin's texture.
Chemical Peels Can Be Used to Remove Tattoos
Previously, the only option for tattoo removal was painful and costly laser treatments. Now there is an effective, safe, and more cost-effective way to remove those once-adored works of art. By using the TCA Chemical Peel to safely remove the outer layer of the skin, the tattoo begins to lighten and diminish over time. Depending on the darkness, depth, and size of the tattoo, more than one treatment may be necessary – the smaller the tattoo, the faster the results. Subsequent peels may be needed to remove deeper layers of skin until the tattoo is completely removed.
Lunchtime Chemical Peels
If you are looking for a light chemical peel that can be done over your lunch hour, a light chemical peel might be right for you. Dr. Cain can adjust the depth and duration of your chemical peel treatment. For a lunchtime chemical peel, Dr. Cain uses a lighter concentration so that you will have less redness and peeling and a quicker recovery. Not only does a lunchtime chemical peel provide visible results quickly, it does so with limited or no downtime.
What You Can Expect
Chemical peels take approximately 15-60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Dr. Cain will mix a custom solution and conduct an initial patch test. Once the treatment process begins, Dr. Cain will apply the solution until it reaches the desired depth of the skin, which typically takes 2-10 minutes. The peel is then neutralized with an iced saline solution, and a topical antibiotic ointment will be applied. Sun exposure should be avoided for several weeks following a chemical peel, and a quality sun block should be applied regularly to protect the new, revitalized skin.
